Manufacturer - Porzellanfbrik Heinrich Winterling
The porcelain factory was founded in 1898 as Porzellanfabrik Drechsel & Strobel . In 1901, the factory became the property of Richard Drechsel. When the Winterling family took over the factory in 1903, the factory had three furnaces, and by 1905 two more had been built. In 1906, about 200 workers were employed. In the same year, the company was transformed into a general partnership, whose partners were the merchant Heinrich Winterling and the engineer Ferdinand Eduard Winterling. By 1913, a factory was also established in Röslau .
The factory operated as a plant within the Gebr company. Winterling until 1992. When in the same year most of the locations and companies of Gebr. Winterling was merged into the new company Winterling Porzellan AG , the factory in Marktleuthen remained intact. It remained under the sole supervision of the owner, Fritz Winterling.
In mid-2009, the company announced its closure in the spring of 2010. The reasons given were higher demand for cheaper foreign porcelain and a sharp increase in energy costs. After the final closure of the factory in 2010, which at that time employed about 150 employees, in 2012 the factory buildings were demolished.
The factory produced the following articles: domestic and export tableware, including coffee and tea services, dinner services , cups, dessert and cake plates, butter dishes, saucepans, candlesticks, etc. Sample warehouses were located in Hamburg, Berlin, Brussels and Amsterdam. The factory had its own paint shop and printing house.
